Peter Malečka

Peter Malečka is Director of Payment Systems & Strategic Development at Everifin, a payment institution licensed by the National Bank of Slovakia. Based on open banking principles, Everifin provides comprehensive services across 22 EU countries, including payments for e-commerce and physical stores, terminal-based payments, direct bank-to-ERP integrations, and other payment solutions.

He has been with Everifin since 2020. He was involved in obtaining the company's payment institution licence from the National Bank of Slovakia as well as in its first-ever integration with a bank's PSD2 API. Since then, he has been leading a large-scale bank integration project that now covers more than 1,500 European banks. One of the projects he has personally helped create and develop is the implementation of PSD2 payments at Rohlik. The solution has been live since 2023 and was later expanded to include QR payments.

Over the years, he has developed in-depth expertise in the regulatory framework, including PSD2 and the RTS, EBA opinions, and the interpretations applied by individual regulators and banks. Today, he draws on this knowledge primarily when addressing practical issues at the intersection of regulation and user experience. In his current role, he also focuses on strategy and alternative payment methods in a broader context, including QR payments. His key priority is to make payments as simple and convenient as possible for end users.
