Christophe Bonte

Head of Payments, European Banking Federation 

As Head of Payments at the European Banking Federation (EBF), Christophe Bonte oversees the Federation's engagement on regulatory and policy developments across a broad range of payments-related topics, including instant payments, online fraud, digital identity, the digital euro, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), and crypto-assets. He represents the European banking sector in various payments expert groups established by the European Commission, the European Central Bank (ECB), and the European Payments Council (EPC). Prior to this, Christophe worked at the Swiss Finance Council, representing the interests of globally active Swiss banks at the EU level. Earlier, he led the Financial Markets and Post-Trade team at the EBF and gained banking experience in the global custody business at Bank of New York Mellon. He began his career teaching European affairs at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Geneva.
